Books

These are some of the books I’ve read over the past few years that have had a lasting impact on the way I think. Some of them inspired me, some challenged me, and some I strongly disagreed with, but they all helped shape my perspective and gave me something worth reflecting on.

I’m currently reading Psychopathology (9th edition). It is helping me build a clearer understanding of psychological disorders, assessment and treatment, while also reminding me how complex people’s experience can be. As English is my second language, I also use it to learn clinical vocabulary.

This book made me reflect on how vulnerability shapes courage and the way we relate to others. As she writes, vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. I can relate to this because changing careers, starting again in a new country all required me to accept uncertainty and be honest about my vulnerability.
